PCOR FEE ADJUSTED

The IRS released the adjusted applicable dollar amount for determining the Patient- Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) fee. The new fee amount, equal to $2.26, has been determined using the projected per capita amount of the National Health Expenditures that HHS publishes each year.

The dollar amount $2.26 applies for plan years ending on or after October 1, 2016 and before October 1, 2017. The total PCOR fee paid is based on the number of covered lives under an HRA or Health Care FSA.

The PCOR fee is intended to fund research about patient outcomes and to improve the quality of health care in the U.S. IRS Form 720 is used to pay PCOR fees, payable in the 2nd quarter of the calendar year following the end of the applicable plan year. The fee is due no later than July 31st.
